Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.) 5.0/5 ... Mainly a wishlist as we scale: we’d love more granular team and permissions controls (fine-grained RBAC, project-level roles, auditability). As our organization grows, tighter access policies and more detailed controls will matter even more. Also, we still cannot migrate to railway when GPU based hardware is required, this is the one big blocker we are having right now to be fully on railway. Beyond that, our experience has been excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Related Pain Points
No GPU-based hardware support
8Railway does not offer GPU-based hardware, which is a critical blocker for organizations that need to migrate certain workloads (e.g., ML inference, heavy computation) to the platform.
Weak authorization model lacking RBAC/ABAC support
7Supabase lacks native RBAC and must rely on manual PostgreSQL Row-Level Security implementation. No organization hierarchy, role mapping UI, or conditional access policies based on roles, making it unsuitable for multi-tenant SaaS.
Missing regional deployment options
6Railway lacks support for certain geographic regions (e.g., Algeria), which creates compliance and performance issues for teams that need to serve or store data in specific locations.
Incomplete scaffolding and templates requiring manual fixes
5Quick scaffolding, auth templates, and starter projects only work about 95% of the time, requiring developers to spend endless time fixing the last 5% instead of building features creatively.
Cannot migrate projects within Railway
4Railway does not provide project migration functionality, making it difficult to reorganize or consolidate projects without manual workarounds.
Poor accessibility for non-technical users
4Railway's interface and abstraction model are developer-centric, making it difficult for non-technical team members to navigate templates, integrations, and configuration without deep technical knowledge.
